Jamestown




King James I gave a grant to a group of London businessmen, in 1606. They had to create an English settlement near Chesapeake, of the Americas. Around December of 1606, 104 colonist sailed to the Americas from London. The were told to settle in Virginia.There job was to search for gold and find a route to the Orient. About half the group was "gentlemen".
